Adults Obsessed With My Little Pony

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on October 30, 2008 in: toys | Tags: , , , , , ,

When I was a kid, My Little Pony was popular with little girls. I had no idea they are still being made and that there are many adults very, very obsessed with collecting them.

My Little Pony

Thousands of  MLP collectors faithfully gather at the forums of MLPArena.com to share all things related to My Little Pony. In this thread, they are discussing how friends and family are sick of hearing them talk obsessively about these toys.

I don’t blame them. Just reading this one thread makes me want to never hear about ponies ever again.

Truck Crash On Donner’s Pass

The forums at TheTruckersReport.com is a gathering spot for truck drivers. Truckers have seen lots of crazy things on the road. Many of them they wish they hadn’t.

In today’s thread they discuss this fatal accident on Donner’s Pass that was caught on video by a Wal-Mart driver’s dash cam.

Here is the thread:

http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/trucking-accident-reports/54617-dramatic-footage-double-fatality-donners-truck.html

Kudos to the Wal-Mart driver. He seems experienced and totally under control in this scary situation. It’s a shame the newly licensed driver of the other rig won’t get a chance to gain the same experience.

Name That Pill

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on October 28, 2008 in: drugs | Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Ever find a loose pill laying around and you have no idea what it is? A concerned dad with teenage kids did. It was blue, oval, and had “L368″ stamped on the side. So he went to this pill identity forum at drugs.com.

http://www.drugs.com/forum/pill-identification/blue-oval-pill-l368-38700.html

The expert pill identifiers ease his mind. The drug turns out to be a minor headache pill.

Bad Dancing Loses Hot Chick

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on October 27, 2008 in: dance | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

I didn’t think I would be posting another dance related topic so soon, but I stumbled upon this funny forum thread at AskMen.com

http://boards.askmen.com/viewtopic.php?t=59030&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

This man was at a party, or a club or something, when a gorgeous girl approaches and strikes up a conversation. He is really into her. When she invites him to the dance floor, he doesn’t hesitate.

She happened to have a cast on her arm, so he jokes about it then does some crazy robot dance moves imitating her cast arm. She didn’t like it and left.

I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

How Many IPods Have You Won?

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on October 26, 2008 in: sweepstakes | Tags: , , , , , , ,

At any given moment, there are thousands and thousands of sweepstakes on the internet. If you enter every single one, and enter every new one in the future, odds are you will win something. If you do it over several years, you will win many somethings.

How does one learn who is giving away prizes? One great site is online-sweepstakes.com. The members there love sweepstakes prizes. You could probably open a mall with all of the merchandise they have collectively won.

In this thread in the forum, the question is “How many IPods have you won?”. The thread is 20 pages long and growing with the number of people sharing how many they have so far.

http://forums.online-sweepstakes.com/showthread.php?t=740044

I haven’t read every post. The highest I have seen is a woman who won 21 IPods. I wonder how many millions of sweepstakes she entered to win that many?

Woot Bag Of Crap

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on October 23, 2008 in: retail | Tags: , , , , , ,

I have to mention woot.com again because right now they are in the middle of a Woot-Off. During this special time, they sell a limited amount of one item. When it sells out, they quickly move on to the next item. So during a Woot-Off, they may sell dozens of different products in a day or two instead of the normal one item per day.

The most coveted item for Woot fanatics is “Random Crap”, a.k.a. “Bag of Crap”.

Woot's Bag of Crap

Woot Bag Of Crap

Wooters who order the random crap do not know what they will be getting, but each crap order cost only $1 plus $5 shipping. It is best to order the maximum of three, because shipping is still only $5. Most items in this potluck package are not very exciting, but usually worth more than what you pay. Sometimes much more.

Thousands of Woot members eagerly wait for the rare “Random Crap” sell. The instant woot.com lists it, their servers are overwhelmed. Only a small percentage of members are able to make it through the ordering process. The rest all come to this thread to complain.

http://www.woot.com/Forums/ViewPost.aspx?PostID=2685943

The main reason I am writing about this is because I have tried several times in the last couple years to get my hands on these bags of crap. I could never get past the “server busy” screens. Today, somehow, I finally succeeded. I actually was able to order three of them. Most people who were lucky enough to order today’s crap are reporting they could only get one. You can see my post in the thread as “allnicksgone”.

I can’t wait to see what I get. Stay tuned. I will post an update here at ThreadOfTheDay.com when it arrives. Woot, if you read this blog, I’m not picky, but I sure could use a big, flat panel t.v., and a surround sound system, and a printer.

Hmm, I sound like a little kid writing a letter to Santa Claus. That’s what woot will do to you. Make you a kid again.

Go Cards

A restaurant in Louisville,  Devino’s Deli, is showing off their support for the St. Louis Cardinals by proudly displaying a big message in the window that proclaims “GO CARDS”.

Everybody respects a business that supports the local team, but look closer.

The restaurant has disguised their recent, less than perfect rating from the Louisville Department of Health.

Today’s Thread of The Day is at a Louisville restaurant forum where they discuss this clever/sneaky sign.
