Christian Jew

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on December 19, 2008 in: religion | Tags: , , , , , ,

Chanukah begins this year on Sunday, December 21, at sunset and continues for eight days.

Today’s thread is in a Jewish forum at Gottorah.com.

http://www.gottorah.com/forum/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=1571&posts=19&start=1

The topic author identifies himself as a “Christian Jew”.  His Jewish mother married his Christian dad. He was raised a Christian, believes in Christianity, and is involved in Christian ministries.

He is completely comfortable in his religious beliefs. However, he wants to become more Jewish ethnically, not religiously, without giving up his Christianity.

He gets some good advice from some on where to start, and others basically say you can’t have your cake and eat it, too.

Happy Chanukah everybody.

Cats That Look Like Hitler

Cat that looks like Hitler

Cat that looks like Hitler

Just when I thought I have seen websites that cover every possible topic, I find CatsThatLookLikeHitler.com.

It’s exactly what it sounds like. A website completely dedicated to cats that look like Adolph Hitler. They call them kitlers.

No, the members of this website are not skinhead fans of Hitler. They are just cat lovers who can’t help seeing the resemblance their furry friends have with him.

In this thread, the members critique the Hitlerness of one of the more popular kitlers.

Propose On Christmas Or Christmas Eve?

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on December 16, 2008 in: wedding | Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

For the second day in a row, today’s Thread of the Day is in the forums of PriceScope.com.

A man and his future fiance (hopefully) are traveling 750 miles to be with her family for Christmas. On the 23rd, he plans on asking the father for permission to marry her. But, he hasn’t figured out when to actually propose to her, either Christmas Eve or Christmas morning.

So he comes to this thread for advice:

I hope he didn’t read yesterday’s Thread of the Day. He might be disappointed to know she may already have a clue.

Proposal Suspicions

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on December 15, 2008 in: wedding | Tags: , , , , , ,

The “ladies in waiting” at the forums of pricescope.com, a website for diamond consumers, share their stories of suspicious behavior from their significant others.

No, not cheating suspicions. (I’ll have to find another thread on that in the future.) They suspect  their boyfriends are preparing to buy engagement rings and propose to them. These girls aren’t as clueless as guys think they are.

Here they discuss different odd behavior they have witnessed.

http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=100570

The guy who suddenly asks for her ring size isn’t exactly the sneakiest future fiance, but there are more subtle hints these Nancy Drew-like detectives pick up on.

Save The Planet, Eat A Kangaroo

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on December 14, 2008 in: environment | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

The members at TheEnvironmentSite.org forum are reacting to news out of Australia. A government adviser is urging citizens to stop eating beef and lamb. Sheep and cows produce too much harmful methane gas through belching and flatulence. Instead, he recommends feasting on kangaroos instead. They don’t fart as much.

Crunk Times

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on December 10, 2008 in: Uncategorized | Tags: , , , , ,

Today’s Thread of the Day has a more positive vibe than yesterday’s and was submitted by Iamdeman at CarAudio.com

The members of CarAudio.com have a forum thread which is probably the second biggest one I have ever seen. It is up to 91,235 replies and quickly growing.

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=238095

Here they share some good and random things that have been going on with themselves. Rumor has it that Lil John and Steven Spielberg are in negotiations to co-produce a movie based on this thread.

Amazingly, the longest thread I ever seen is also in this forum and it’s twice as big.

UPS Driver Suicide

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on December 9, 2008 in: workplace | Tags: , , , , , ,

Today’s thread is very sad.

BrownCafe.com has a forum for UPS workers to discuss their jobs. The wife of one member logged into his account to announce to other members that her husband was fired on Friday, November 14th, 2008, then killed himself on Monday, November 17th.

http://www.browncafe.com/forum/ups_discussions/202024-ups_driver_commits_suicide.html

She goes into more details on post #63.

Please pray for Janice and her family during these trying times.

Barack Obama’s Citizenship

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on December 8, 2008 in: Political | Tags: , , , , , , ,

Today’s thread is in the forum of PeakOil.com. They are arguing whether or not Barack Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States. Some people say he is not, and therefore not eligible to be President of the United States.

The member named “Nickel” seems to have the most sense in this thread.
