What Are Ivy League Schools Hiding?

Today’s Thread of the Day is at the parents forum of CollegeConfidential.com. A parent of a soon to be college student wants to know if Ivy League schools are hiding something when they take prospective students on tours.

The schools are historical. On the outside, the centuries old buildings are an architectural delight. But this parent says it is difficult to see the insides of ones their child will actually be using; such as classrooms, dorm rooms, library, cafeteria, etc. The tour guide takes them in places their child will never spend time.

Yale shows the cannon ball room, but not a dorm room. Penn will show off the Wharton building, but that is a newer facility. Harvard won’t show the freshmen cafeteria because of Domna, the Nazi-like cafeteria lady.

What is the real reason they don’t show more of the insides of these prestigious buildings?  Is it because once inside, they are nothing but unimpressive, old, dark, gloomy, out-dated facilities? That is what the original poster of this thread is beginning to think:

Ever feel like your dentist is ripping you off? Maybe he learned that in dental school.

A future dentist at the forums of StudentDoctor.net complains that theft is running rampant at his school. Other members post their similar experiences at other schools. It seems that stealing may be common among dental students.

My only question was this: What are loupes?

So I looked it up, and found out they are these:

Room With Friends?

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on May 22, 2008 in: college | Tags: , , , , ,

High school graduation is upon us. For college bound seniors, it is time to think about who you want your college roommate to be.

Should it be a friend you already know, or should you take a chance on a stranger? Both have pros and cons.  Living with a friend often ruins the relationship. On the other hand, you never know what you will get with a complete stranger.

In today’s Thread of the Day, the members of CollegeConfidential.com discuss this topic.
