Frasier’s Apartment

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on December 4, 2008 in: television | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

Although the TV show Frasier ended it’s run a few years ago, it lives on in syndication. The forum at frasieronline.co.uk is still quite active with fans.

Today’s Thread of the Day hasn’t had any replies in over a year, but I am fascinated by it.

http://www.frasieronline.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4119&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=floorplan&start=0

Based on visual and verbal clues witnessed on the show, the members are trying to agree on the floor plan of Frasier Crane’s Seattle condo.

This is the third and last version the floor plan maker made based on input from others:

Frasier's Condo

Frasier's Condo

Unfortunately, there are scenes from some episodes that still seem to contradict this drawing. Unless it is a shape shifting building, an apartment that fits the flow of every scene, from every episode, probably couldn’t exist in real life.

Best Blu-Ray

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on December 2, 2008 in: movies, television | Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Which Blu-ray movies have the best picture quality, and which have the best sound quality? That is the question over at the blu-ray.com forum.

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=73229

My vote for best picture quality is “Planet Earth“. Anyone who owns a Blu-ray player should definitely have “Planet Earth” to show off their HD tv capabilities. The best place to buy it and other titles, in my opinion, is BluRave.com.

Countdown to 24:Redemption

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on November 23, 2008 in: television | Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

The tv show “24″ hasn’t been on the air for a while. Last year it was a victim of the writers’ strike. So it hasn’t been on for almost two years. The next season doesn’t officially start until January.

So what has Jack Bauer been doing during this time? Tonight we will find out as Fox airs a special 24 hour movie, called “24:Redemption”, that bridges the long gap between seasons.

The 24 fans over at the forum on fox.com can hardly contain their excitement. They started a countdown a month ago and now, with only minutes remaining, this thread is buzzing:

http://forums.fox.com/fox24/messages/?msg=135254.1

If you missed 24:Redemption, you can watch it instantly on your computer through amazon.com with this link:

Or if you want a dvd copy for your 24 collection, you can buy it here:

TV Shows Renewed

Fans at forum.tvtalk.com discuss tv shows that have been renewed and canceled this season.

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/tv-talk/542139-shows-picked-up-full-season-renewed-thread-2008-09-a.html

Shows Picked up for a full season are:

Fringe
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Knight Rider
Private Practice
90210
Chuck
The Mentalist
Kath and Kim
Life

Shows cancelled are:
The Ex-List
Valentine
Easy Money
Do Not Disturb

See the thread for more info.

I’m surprised 90210 was renewed. I haven’t seen it but heard it’s bad.

Even though I only seen parts of one episode, The Ex-List seemed like it had potential. Guess it won’t ever be a best selling dvd at OwnYourShows.com

Palin Rap

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on October 20, 2008 in: television | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Tina Fey’s dead-on impersonation of Vice-President nominee Governor Sarah Palin has been a hit on Saturday Night Live.

Anticipation was high for Palin’s appearance on SNL this past weekend. What would happen when these women who look like twins seperated at birth got together on the same stage? Rating were the highest in years. However, neither Tina Fey’s nor Sarah Palin’s performance matched the anticipation. Fey was just as good as normal, but nothing we haven’t already seen. Palin was just kind of there hanging out.

The real star of the night was Amy Poehler. She did a hilarious “Palin Rap” during the Weekend Update segment. You must watch this video if you haven’t already seen it. If the comedy thing doesn’t work out for Poehler, she should try hip-hop.

Today’s Thread Of The Day is at NBC where SNL fans discuss and critique the whole episode.

It doesn’t take long for the members to get into a political debate. Lighten up people, it’s only comedy. Take the politics somewhere else. Fortunately, a moderator steps in and tells them just that and saves the thread.

How To Get To Sesame Street

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on October 7, 2008 in: television | Tags: , , , , ,

Sesame Street is now in it’s 39th year. In this thread at the MuppetCentral.com forum, adults are having a serious discussion on what they would like to see more of this season. I don’t think they are watching with their kids.

http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=39629

Not surprisingly, because humans are nostalgic by nature, most posters want to see more of their favorite characters from the past.

I haven’t seen Sesame Street in years. I wonder if the Yip Yip aliens are still on it? They were my favorite.

David Blaine’s Dive of Death

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on October 5, 2008 in: television | Tags: , , , , , , ,

So who saw David Blaine’s most recent live stunt on ABC?

First he performed an amazing feat of endurance by hanging upside down in Central Park for 60 hours straight. Sure, he took breaks every 20 minutes or so any time he felt kind of tired,  but he still loitered non-stop in Central Park for 2.5 days. If you don’t count the homeless or Christo’s “The Gates”, not too many can make that claim.

After this incredible accomplishment, David Blaine then topped it off by frightening all nervous viewers with his dangerous “Dive of Death”. He stepped off his 40 foot perch and was slowly lowered by a cable to just a couple feet from the ground. Phew, what a close call!

Then, after hanging there for a minute, the cable raised him above the view of the camera and into the darkness. The announcer then proclaims David Blaine has vanished into thin air. This was a feat I haven’t seen matched since my days of playing peek-a-boo in my high chair.

For those who missed it, here is a video on YouTube.

Today’s Thread of The Day is at the DavidBlaine.com forum where fans discuss what went wrong with this trick. I don’t know what they are talking about. The trick seemed perfect to me. They also get into some weird fighting and name calling with each other which has nothing to do with David Blaine.

http://network.davidblaine.com/forum/topic/show?id=2152519%3ATopic%3A5922&page=1#comments

Maybe the “Dive of Death” is actually a literal metaphor for his career.

Making Love, or Having Sex?

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on September 17, 2008 in: television | Tags: , , , , , , ,

The fans of the soap opera “Days of Our Lives”, take a poll on what they would rather see more of on the show; characters making love, or characters having sex.

http://boards.sonypictures.com/soaps/showthread.php?t=122145

As of this posting, the vote is 46 to 2 in favor of making love. I am guessing the 2 votes for sex are the only two male members of the forum.

I don’t know how this age old Giligan’s Island question got started in the city-data.com forum, but here is today’s Thread of the Day:

I wouldn’t turn either one down, but Mary Ann is easily the winner in my mind.
