So who saw David Blaine’s most recent live stunt on ABC?

First he performed an amazing feat of endurance by hanging upside down in Central Park for 60 hours straight. Sure, he took breaks every 20 minutes or so any time he felt kind of tired, but he still loitered non-stop in Central Park for 2.5 days. If you don’t count the homeless or Christo’s “The Gates”, not too many can make that claim.

After this incredible accomplishment, David Blaine then topped it off by frightening all nervous viewers with his dangerous “Dive of Death”. He stepped off his 40 foot perch and was slowly lowered by a cable to just a couple feet from the ground. Phew, what a close call!

Then, after hanging there for a minute, the cable raised him above the view of the camera and into the darkness. The announcer then proclaims David Blaine has vanished into thin air. This was a feat I haven’t seen matched since my days of playing peek-a-boo in my high chair.

For those who missed it, here is a video on YouTube.

Today’s Thread of The Day is at the DavidBlaine.com forum where fans discuss what went wrong with this trick. I don’t know what they are talking about. The trick seemed perfect to me. They also get into some weird fighting and name calling with each other which has nothing to do with David Blaine.

http://network.davidblaine.com/forum/topic/show?id=2152519%3ATopic%3A5922&page=1#comments

Maybe the “Dive of Death” is actually a literal metaphor for his career.
