ESPN Fixes Games

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on January 7, 2009 in: sports | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

On ESPN.com there is an entertaining contest called Streak for the Cash. Everyday, ESPN post a few different sports matchups. You have the choice of picking the winner for which ever games you want. If you correctly pick 27 times in a row, you win a million dollars.

Of course the games they let you choose from are not usually easy picks, so it’s difficult to put a long streak together. My current winning streak is two. The highest right now is 12.

In today’s Thread of the Day, there is a genius who insists ESPN is fixing the games that are broadcast on their network. This includes tennis, soccer, basketball, football, etc., college and professional. ESPN is doing this to keep players from putting a long streak together. He even has “proof”. The teams that the majority pick are losing too much. He is absolutely convinced and nobody can change his mind.

As one member stated: “this has to be the dumbest thread I’ve seen on this message board in quite some time.”

I couldn’t agree more.

How Many IPods Have You Won?

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on October 26, 2008 in: sweepstakes | Tags: , , , , , , ,

At any given moment, there are thousands and thousands of sweepstakes on the internet. If you enter every single one, and enter every new one in the future, odds are you will win something. If you do it over several years, you will win many somethings.

How does one learn who is giving away prizes? One great site is online-sweepstakes.com. The members there love sweepstakes prizes. You could probably open a mall with all of the merchandise they have collectively won.

In this thread in the forum, the question is “How many IPods have you won?”. The thread is 20 pages long and growing with the number of people sharing how many they have so far.

I haven’t read every post. The highest I have seen is a woman who won 21 IPods. I wonder how many millions of sweepstakes she entered to win that many?
