For the second day in a row, today’s Thread of the Day is in the forums of PriceScope.com.

A man and his future fiance (hopefully) are traveling 750 miles to be with her family for Christmas. On the 23rd, he plans on asking the father for permission to marry her. But, he hasn’t figured out when to actually propose to her, either Christmas Eve or Christmas morning.

So he comes to this thread for advice:

http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=102430

I hope he didn’t read yesterday’s Thread of the Day. He might be disappointed to know she may already have a clue.

Scouting, in this case Boy Scouts or Cub Scouts or something similar, can be a great learning and growing experience for a young man.

The original poster is concerned that a dad is too involved in his son’s troop. The dad means well, and doesn’t seem to be trying to interfere, but maybe the son relies on him as sort of a security blanket on outings. He isn’t able to become dependent which is one of the objectives of the trips.

This thread is a very good discussion on whether this is actually a problem or not.
