Reduce Your Comcast Bill and Get Free HBO

Today’s Thread of The Day has been very useful for me.

If you are a Comcast customer but are considering leaving them, look at this forum thread at slickdeals.net.

Comcast prefers to keep the customers they have. It’s probably easier than getting new ones. If you call them or use their online chat assistant, you can inquire about any special promotions they may be able to offer. Often you may get reduced rates or even free premium channels.

I was inspired by this thread and used the chat assistant to contact Comcast. The operator was very nice and professional. I told the gentleman I wasn’t sure I am getting my money’s worth with Comcast. He looked up my account and said he could reduce my internet bill from $45.95 to $33 for six months. I told him that would be nice. Every little bit helps.

I asked if he could do anything about my cable bill. After a couple minutes of checking things, he said he could reduce that by $12.05 per month for a year. I said I will take it, then asked if there are any special promotions on premium channels. He came back with a special on Showtime, $4 a month for six months. I said that sounds good,  but I will pass. Then I asked if there are any deals on HBO. He said I can have that free for three months. I accepted it. Then he said I am going to love this deal; free Showtime for a year! That was better than the initial $4, six month deal, so of course I jumped on that.

So for six months my bill is reduced $25 a month, $12 for another six months after. I now get Showtime free for a year and HBO for three months. I know HBO is $17.95 per month and I think Showtime is the same. So my total savings after reading today’s Thread of The Day is almost $500.

Comcast gets more than their fare share of criticism, but they are good at retaining customers. If any readers out there are Comcast customers and aren’t satisfied, you should call and let them know. Their customer service agents are good people. So be nice and polite with them. Just make sure you ask the right questions.

Your results may vary, depending on location and other factors.

How Many IPods Have You Won?

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on October 26, 2008 in: sweepstakes | Tags: , , , , , , ,

At any given moment, there are thousands and thousands of sweepstakes on the internet. If you enter every single one, and enter every new one in the future, odds are you will win something. If you do it over several years, you will win many somethings.

How does one learn who is giving away prizes? One great site is online-sweepstakes.com. The members there love sweepstakes prizes. You could probably open a mall with all of the merchandise they have collectively won.

In this thread in the forum, the question is “How many IPods have you won?”. The thread is 20 pages long and growing with the number of people sharing how many they have so far.

I haven’t read every post. The highest I have seen is a woman who won 21 IPods. I wonder how many millions of sweepstakes she entered to win that many?
