ESPN Fixes Games

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on January 7, 2009 in: sports | Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

On ESPN.com there is an entertaining contest called Streak for the Cash. Everyday, ESPN post a few different sports matchups. You have the choice of picking the winner for which ever games you want. If you correctly pick 27 times in a row, you win a million dollars.

Of course the games they let you choose from are not usually easy picks, so it’s difficult to put a long streak together. My current winning streak is two. The highest right now is 12.

In today’s Thread of the Day, there is a genius who insists ESPN is fixing the games that are broadcast on their network. This includes tennis, soccer, basketball, football, etc., college and professional. ESPN is doing this to keep players from putting a long streak together. He even has “proof”. The teams that the majority pick are losing too much. He is absolutely convinced and nobody can change his mind.

As one member stated: “this has to be the dumbest thread I’ve seen on this message board in quite some time.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Pittsburgh Penguins Special Delivery

Written by ThreadOfTheDay.com on September 11, 2008 in: sports | Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Today’s thread is at a hockey fan forum in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ section:

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=548732

The Penguins have recently started a tradition where a few lucky season ticket holders get their tickets delivered by a player. In this forum, a member announced last week that he got a call from the Penguins asking him to be home the following week, which was yesterday, at a certain time to get his special delivery from a player.

They don’t tell him which one, so the speculation begins. Will it be a superstar like Sydney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, or Marc-Andre Fleury? The anticipation begins.

It ended up not being a well known player, Jeff Taffe, but as one poster said, it was better than the mailman.

Fat Goalie

The NHL playoffs are in full force right now and the hockey fans at HFBoards.com have much to talk about in their busy forum.

Goaltending is obviously an important issue, but this thread is a little less serious. They discuss if an extremely obese person would make a good goalie. He could just sit in front of the goal and it would be impossible for the puck to get by.

Sounds good in theory, but would it work? Find out in today’s Thread Of The Day.
